Elemental Composition/Chemical Analysis

At EMSL we determine the elemental composition of an inorganic or metallic material using various chemical analysis methods, including glow-discharge optical emission spectrometer (GD-OES), wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (WD-XRF), Energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (ED-XRF), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and traditional wet chemistry procedures.

Determining the elemental composition of a material is important in applications such as alloy identification; material selection, evaluation or certification; quality control, and failure analysis
